Attachment-Focused Babywearing
Meet Melissa
Hi, I’m Melissa — a mom of two, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and a certified babywearing educator based in Upland, CA.
My own babywearing journey began during one of the hardest seasons of my life: first-time motherhood.
After my first baby was born, I experienced postpartum anxiety and struggled to trust my intuition. Having my baby close helped regulate both of us. Babywearing gave me the ability to move through daily life while staying connected to my baby. It helped me feel empowered again- I slowly figured out how to make a new meal with him attached, go on a hike, or even board a plane.
And over time, babywearing became more than a practical tool, it became deeply meaningful. It reminded me that caregivers across generations and cultures have carried their babies long before us and there is so much wisdom in this practice.
As both a therapist and a mother, I’ve seen how support, regulation, and responsive caregiving can shape the postpartum experience for the better. That’s what inspired me to create Carried Together IE: a space where families can learn, ask questions, try different carriers, and receive support without pressure or perfectionism.
My goal is to make babywearing:
Accessible
Not every carrier is made for every body
Safe
For baby’s growth and development
Comfortable
It shouldn’t cause discomfort or pain
Sustainable
It doesn’t have to cost a fortune
And enjoyable for every family
It should be FUN!
Melissa is kind, approachable and knowledgeable about carriers. She helped me find the perfect one for my newborn!
